Penguin Study, Punta Tombo

I spent several days painting at Punta Tombo, a National Reserve just south of the Valdez Peninsula in the province of Chubut. Each October, somewhere between 350,000 and 400,000 Magellanic penguins come to Punta Tombo to lay their eggs. This is one of those experiences which will stay in my mind forever: me, my canvas and paints, the sound of several thousand penguins calling to each other, and a cold wind blowing off the Atlantic Ocean.
